About KCTA

The Kentucky Cable Telecommunications Association (KCTA) is the trade association that represents Kentucky's investor owned cable companies. The Association’s 18 member companies serve nearly 800,000 basic cable subscribers throughout the Commonwealth. The members' 118 cable systems provide a wide array of state-of-the-art broadband services including; analog and digital video services, high-speed Internet access and telephone service.

Our Mission

The mission of the Association is to foster and promote the development of cable service and to encourage high industry standards. KCTA also provides educational information to its members and the public regarding the cable telecommunications industry.

The Association

KCTA represents its members with the Kentucky General Assembly and regulatory agencies such as the Kentucky Public Service Commission and the Kentucky Department of Revenue. KCTA has been involved with numerous associations related to industry issues and activities. These include the Kentucky League of Cities, the Kentucky Association of Counties, the Kentucky Press Association and the Kentucky Broadcasters Association. The Association has also represented the cable industry in courts of law, most recently in efforts to maintain tax parity for all providers of multi-channel video service. Regarding issues in the United States Congress and the Federal Communications Commission, KCTA works closely with the National Cable and Telecommunications Association.

Two regular meetings of the Association are held each year. The Winter General Membership Meeting is held in Frankfort in February when the Kentucky General Assembly is in session. The Fall General Membership Meeting is usually held in Lexington in September or October, but occasionally it moves to other parts of the state. Both events include a meeting of the KCTA board of directors, which is made up of cable executives from companies across the state. The annual meetings also feature educational seminars on topics of interest to cable operators. The annual KCTA golf tournament is held in conjunction with the meeting in the fall.

This website is maintained by KCTA to provide members and the public the latest information about important cable industry issues in Kentucky. It also contains information about members and associate members who supply programming, equipment and services to our members.
